The Audiolab 6000A Play represents the latest evolution of the renowned 6000 Series, combining the acclaimed 6000A integrated amplifier with the 6000N Play wireless streaming player into a single comprehensive solution. Retaining the praised analog and digital circuitry of the 6000A, it adapts seamlessly to modern music streaming demands, ensuring virtually universal compatibility with various sources.

At the core of its streaming capabilities is the DTS Play-Fi platform, enabling high-resolution audio playback up to 24-bit/96kHz with services such as TIDAL and Qobuz. The 6000A Play accesses music content from any device connected to the network—including smartphones, tablets, PCs, and NAS drives—while providing access to a vast array of streaming services like Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, Napster, and many others, alongside global internet radio and podcasts. Thanks to DLNA compatibility, streaming from home media servers is also fully supported. DTS Play-Fi technology ensures uninterrupted listening with gapless playback and direct transfer mode, eliminating delays between tracks and ensuring that incoming calls or smartphone notifications do not interrupt audio playback.

The Audiolab 6000A Play preserves the refined circuitry of the 6000A, designed by Jan Ertner, who built upon his experience with the acclaimed 8300A model. The built-in DAC is an ES9018 Sabre32 featuring 32-bit HyperStream architecture and a Time Domain Jitter Eliminator. Four digital inputs are provided—two coaxial and two optical—supporting signals up to 24-bit/192kHz, with user-selectable digital filters (Fast Roll-Off, Slow Roll-Off, and Minimum Phase). Wireless connectivity is further expanded via Bluetooth with aptX codec support for high-quality streaming.

Class AB amplification delivers 50W per channel into 8 Ohms. The output stage employs a Complementary Feedback (CFB) topology fed by a 200VA toroidal transformer and supported by 4x 15,000µF capacitors (60,000µF total capacity), delivering exceptional stability and dynamic headroom. The unit can operate in three distinct modes: as an integrated amplifier, a standalone preamplifier, or a power amplifier. It also features a dedicated MM Phono stage utilizing a JFET-based circuit with precise RIAA equalization, as well as a dedicated current-feedback headphone amplifier.

The 6000A Play stands out for its balanced, engaging sonic presentation. Highs are detailed without ever becoming fatiguing. The midrange is rich in texture and nuance, delivering crisp vocals and expressive acoustic guitars that capture every detail of the performance. The bass response, while controlled rather than overbearing, is fast, taut, and well-articulated. While the 50W output may not provide the deepest extension of higher-powered models, it offers a punchy and tactile attack.
